We could have talked about yet another Apple tablet rumor but the chat room vetoed it. The chat room rulez! We do discuss Google's CEO leaving the Apple board and Microsoft shipping the normal Windows 7 to Europeans. And also robots that can run. That's not a good idea. Especially if they run towards you.

Federal CTO Aneesh Chopra drops by to chat with us about the technology policies of the current US administration. We ask him our own questions as well as some from teh audience. Get Aneesh's takes on Broadband, health care, net neutrality, education, and more.
1034 | Life is short, have pie | Tuesday, August 4, 2009 | [5] | [6] |
Radio Shack as we mentioned yesterday is changing to The Shack. But a good restaurant in Connecticut is also called The Shack and has pie. Radio Shack does not have pie. They lose. We also talk about Google's dropping search share and the rumored new PS3.
1035 | Gadget of the year 2006 | Wednesday, August 5, 2009 | [7] | [8] |
Donald Bell previewed the Zune HD and it brought him tears of joy. But the rest of us think it's about three years too late. We also debate the need for Google to get into the video codec game and whether you need a pico projector in your camera.
1036 | Twitter Viagra? | Thursday, August 6, 2009 | [9] | [10] |
So Twitter has had a hard time staying up today because of a denial of service attack. But we think we have the answer. And it's available in many spam emails for order. We also get in a big fat argument about whether News Corp. will win or lose by charging for all their news sites. But we can all agree on Whisky.
1037 | Podcast of indeterminate lake | Friday, August 7, 2009 | [11] | [12] |
I don't know. It must be the low blood sugar but I called us the podcast of indeterminate lake. But we still were able to talk sensibly about the Twitter DoS targeted at one specific person. We also cheer on the FCC as they hold ISPs feet to the fire. And Adobe is the new Microsoft. We'll tell you why.
1038 | Microsoft: It's a change | Monday, August 10, 2009 | [13] | [14] |
So at one time before February 2008, you could get a domain name for life if you signed up for Microsoft's Office Live. Today Microsoft says it's no longer free. Even though they said it was free for life. But they did acknowledge that "It's a change." You think? Also you can now deposit your checks via iPhone. Wow.
1039 | Look Timmy, PaPa's got WiFi in his chest | Tuesday, August 11, 2009 | [15] | [16] |
We started by reporting on the amazing technology that allows pacemakers to wirelessly transmit diagnostic info to a bedside device making the pacemaker safer and doctor visits shorter. But we found the most compelling fact the idea that this would be WiFi. Which we think should mean hotspots and a mesh network. It solves a lot of problems. Think about it. Also no Apple, Twitter or Google news today. Sorry. There is a robot story.
1040 | i4i wants tooth for tooth from Microsoft | Wednesday, August 12, 2009 | [17] | [18] |
The i4i Chairman Loudon Owen joins us to talk about why they're suing Microsoft to prevent selling Word as it is currently. Sounds like they wouldn't mind cash. Also Tr.im is back. And Molly takes them to task for being babies. And Vance gets a Corvette for $14 a month. Or would. If GM honored it's bad math.
1041 | What does the brown Zune do for you? | Thursday, August 13, 2009 | [19] | [20] |
The Zune HD is coming in colors. But none of them are brown. And do you really care? We also talk about the ePub format. Will it change the landscape of eBook publications? And also, while we're at it, how the heck should we express fuel efficiency in electric cars? So many questions. At least Kernels are now bug-proof.

We learn that not only is a botnet using Twitter to store some of its data but that botnet follow Veronica. Who is a bot herself. We also ponder why leaked pictures of the Dell smartphone are so blurry. And bad news folks. Looks like no tablet for the Apple announcement, but it sounds like it will be in September.
1043 | Nobody wants gummi gas | Monday, August 17, 2009 | [23] | [24] |
A caller wonders what happens to the Chevy Volt if you have the gas in there too long. Does the gas go bad? Well, it could get gummy. And nobody wants gummy gas. or gummi gas either. Not tasty. We also take the SEC conference to task for trying to ban Twitter and photos during their football games. Seriously? Also China got a Dell phone. But will they want it?
1044 | Back that app up | Tuesday, August 18, 2009 | [25] | [26] |
Palm's adding more apps to a commercialized app store. It's calling it the app catalog, which got us thinking about all the different names we could have for app stores. We also get a little excited about the new Sony PS3 slim. Does it herald in the resurgence of the PS3? Probably not. Will it help Blu-ray? Maybe a little.

1047 | Stab it out | Friday, August 21, 2009 | [31] | [32] |
Rafe and I get in a fight over Windows 7's loose activation policy. Brian suggests we hug out. Rafe and I seem to prefer stabbing it out. We also take Flickr to task for censoring images and wonder why the Internet addiction center is so expensive.
1048 | Is Apple lying to the FCC? | Monday, August 24, 2009 | [33] | [34] |
Apple's letter to the FCC makes some pretty incredible claims about what Google Voice does to the iPhone's phone functionality. TechCrunch calls them misleading when they're being nice. To us, they sound like lies. We're also kinda taken with the Nokia laptop. Yes, Nokia is making a laptop. And of course the week of stars kicks off with guest host Patrick Beja.
1049 | The Pirate Bay will never die.... and neither will SCO | Tuesday, August 25, 2009 | [35] | [36] |
Monarchy, mercantilism, and Talmudic tech are on the table today. We get a little obscure in our references...at least I do...but Leo and Brian keep us on track talking about the new Sony Reader, and how the Pirate Bay is unkillable. In bad news, SCO is back, and this time it's personal.
1050 | Break your 4GB Windows RAM shackles | Wednesday, August 26, 2009 | [37] | [38] |
We discuss the developing story that the 4GB RAM limit in Windows is nothing but a license maneuver. Say it ain't so Microsoft? Also Apple may be trying to sneak in antivirus in Snow Leopard, and guest host Dr. Kiki tells about MIT's effort to teleport data. No more lag in Dalaran!
1051 | Firefox 3.5, now safe for porn | Thursday, August 27, 2009 | [39] | [40] |
Yes. Snow Leopard reviews are out, and I have my favorite. But the more interesting story is Mozilla finding out that people didn't want to upgrade because they're afraid of the awesome bar exposing their porn. So they introduced private browsing mode fast. We also welcome Jon Strickland from HowStuffWorks to the show and he helps us understand how we can turn any story into an Apple story.
1052 | An actual piece of horse | Friday, August 28, 2009 | [41] | [42] |
I'm not sure why I mentioned an actual piece of horse, but it had to do with trojan horses and mysterious laptops showing up at Governor's offices around the US. We also help you get hooked up with Snow Leopard compatibility and warn you against a couple of scary government initiatives.
1053 | Stay healthy, stay fat | Monday, August 31, 2009 | [43] | [44] |
Sure Apple has made their September 9 announcement official, and yeah Disney is buying Marvel and will soon own Spider-man. But we're most concerned about RIBA the robot bear who's coming to get our unhealthy thin humans. Protect yourself! Keep out of beds and wheelchairs and for heaven's sake stay over 135 pounds! |
