If you've got Sprint and you're under contract and don't like them, you can get out of it until the 31st. They're changing their pay-per-use for text messages from 10 cents to 15 cents, and it's a material charge on the contract, so you can get out of it within 30 days of the change.

Your plan to rid the world of pennies by making them into copper wire won't work--most pennies are made primarily of zinc. Also, I'm still waiting for fiber in my area.

I have the Creative Zen Vision:M, and the new firmware update has disabled FM recording! This is a feature that's advertised on the box, and it's a feature I use from time to time. So if I want to upgrade, I have to go without my FM recording. I don't know why, but right now, I refuse to upgrade.

Nintendo Wii preorders start tomorrowEdit

Everyone (especially Veronica),
I just called my local EBGames, and they confirmed that they will begin taking preorders for the Nintendo Wii tomorrow October 13. :) (Ironically, that's Friday the 13th.) Engadget also posted this article about it.

I love the podcast and hope everyone is well. Thanks for making everyone's day a little brighter.
Take care,

Sneaky and sprint and....wowEdit

Molly, if you're looking to cancel Sprint, I say do so now, and quickly. Because they've clandestinely raised the text message fee to 15 cents, you have the right to cancel your contract before the 31st without fee. More information here: Be careful though, as usual, CSRs will do their darnedest to keep you from doing so.

I keep having dreams in which I meet you guys, but you always look really caricature-y. For example, Molly usually has gigantic glasses on, you know, the grandma kind, Veronica usually has a beret or some other kind of cool-in-the-early-90s hat, and Tom is unreasonably tall. Go figure.

Australian music site sells un-DRMd MP3s with watermarkEdit

JB Hi-Fi (one of the biggest music/electronics chains in Australia) just launched an online music site selling a few big-name bands in MP3 format, free of DRM, alongside WMA protected files.

Apparently they "digitally watermark" the MP3s to track if they're pirated; dunno how this is done but at least I can do what I want with my purchases this way.

Google Calendar saved my academic lifeEdit

I just wanted to share a little story about how Google Calender saved me from failing a class. I was extremely tired today since I had a hard time falling asleep last night. So I go to my first of three classes already planning on skipping my last two classes just so I can go back home and crash when I get a text message reminding me I have a test. I had completely forgotten I had a test in class #2, and for that matter with as tired as I was, had forgotten that I had marked all of my exams for the semester in Google Calender with SMS reminders.

Abby from BrooklynEdit

Hey, guys. After Veronica's little tangent on Wednesday about the possibility that Microsoft was a Cancer, I just had to go about finding out the truth (full disclosure: I am a Cancer and was hoping Microsoft was not). So according to Wikipedia, Microsoft was founded on April 4, 1975, which makes it an Aries. According to Wikipedia,
"Aries is the first sign of the Zodiac and associated with fresh vigor and new beginnings. Individuals born under this sign are thought to have a confident, energetic, adventurous, enthusiastic, fair, passionate, and pioneering character but one which is also prone to selfishness, boastfulness, intolerance, impulsiveness, and impatience."
