Pluto's in danger of insult again, as scientists decide that anything bigger than a potato should be a dwarf planet. Or something like that. We also dig into why Apple would suddenly disqualify any third-party compilers from being used to make iPhone apps. And the long-awaited iPod Nano scratch lawsuit is settled. Our national nightmare is over.

Hey buzzers,

I was doing some research on how many iPhones were sold compared to iPads when I came across this gem from CNN Money dated 2007:

http://money.cnn.com/2007/07/02/technology/iphone_sales/

Gene Munster is quite a media quoter. He predicted 500,000 units were sold the first weekend when actually 270,000 1st gen iPhones were sold. Fast forward to the iPads and he predicted 500,000 when the actual number was 300,000 (weekend numbers, not the 450,000 Jobs said at the iPhone 4 press event).

So for now on if Gene Munster is quoted as to how many Apple’s newest-thing-of-a-jig sales, he has a new math equation:

Number of units Gene Munster predicts / 2 =~ units number (The tilde is suppose to go under the equal sign to indicate an estimate)

Love you guys,

Gregory Schultz
