Regarding the rejected ad, I’ve provided a link to the Microsoft adCenter editorial guidelines.
Basically, Here is what the page says:
Trademarks
You are responsible for obtaining permission to use any trademarks in your ads. Microsoft adCenter will not serve as a mediator between trademark owners and advertisers interested in using trademarks in their ad campaigns. Microsoft adCenter does not allow you to bid on as a keyword, or use in the content of your ads: Any term whose use would infringe the trademark of any third party or otherwise be unlawful or in violation of the rights of any third party.
Microsoft adCenter might allow the use of a third-party trademark if its use is truthful and lawful, for example if: You are a reseller whose website sells authentic goods or services that are distributed under the trademark. Your website provides information (for example, product reviews) about goods or services represented by the trademark, and your principal offering is not the sale of any product or service that competes with the goods or services represented by the trademark.
You are clearly using the ordinary, dictionary use of a term, and your principal offering is not the sale of any product or service that competes with the goods or services represented by the trademark.
Anyway… It doesn’t look like Microsoft was Censoring because iPHone is a competitor, because if you go to bing.com and search for adwords, you will see that Google is actually an advertiser… if Microsoft wanted to censor, you’d think they’d deny Google’s ad.
Lastly, Tom you were correct, Amazon stopped the associates program in North Carolina because of the taxes, I was an associate in NC and they cut me off. I fixed it by getting a UPS store mail box in South Carolina(two miles from me) and using that address for my associates account, and viola I’m back in the associates program…

Seems like Howard Schmidt is the only one in the world who thinks there is no cyberwar.
I have attended NSA briefings from the people who manage the operations/response center and they are very clear about the levels of attacks and the sophistication of those attacks. It is bad and getting worse. These are not independent hackers but nation states.
The FBI even says that attacks on government web sites alone are now at 1.6 Billion a month. That is billion with a “B”.
The British equivalent of NSA, GCHQ is mentioned in the above article.
So much for feeling safe.
